How to Co-Construct Mature Play for Children's Learning & Development

Saturday, November 7, 2020

9:00am - 10:30am

Speaker: Dr. Feiyan Chen

Research shows that high-quality play catering for children’s optimal learning and development has been decreasing. As early childhood teachers, how can we enhance the quality of play that happens every day? The purpose of this workshop is to offer Vygotsky’s non-classical perspective on play and to support teachers in improving play for children’s learning and development. In the workshop, teachers will learn:

  • The recent situation of play worldwide
  • Understanding play from Lev Vygotsky’s perspective (e.g., an advanced level of play, play as a leading activity, the role of play in learning and development, etc.)
  • Strategies for play development

You may bring your questions, concerns, or challenging scenarios about play in your practice to the workshop for discussions and answers.
